AFLAC Goes for the Gold: U.S. Olympic Synchronized Swimmers Featured in AFLAC'S Newest Ad COLUMBUS, Ga., April 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The AFLAC Duck will test its flippers along side of the 2004 U.S. Olympic Synchronized Swim Team in the newest television spot for AFLAC Incorporated. The ad featuring a first-ever TV commercial performance by the 2004 U.S. Olympic Synchronized Swimming team is the 18th spot in the AFLAC Duck campaign which, in the past, has seen Looney Tunes characters, Yogi Berra, Wayne Newton, and Chevy Chase share the stage with the feathered star, known for its familiar "AFLAAAAAAAC" Duck quack. The thirty-second spot opens with the team immersed in a pool, donning colorful swim caps and performing a standard routine until the AFLAC Duck comes along. The "AFLAC Synchronized Swimmers" commercial created by the Kaplan Thaler Group will break on May 3, 2004 during primetime and high visibility sporting events. "The new commercial is one of the highest-testing commercials in the history of the campaign," said Dan Amos, CEO and chairman of AFLAC. "We are eager to see how the public enjoys our newest advertisement." "It was about time we returned the AFLAC Duck to water. In fact it was our client, Kathelen Spencer, Executive Vice President, Director of Corporate Communications at AFLAC, who came up with the idea of teaming the AFLAC Duck with the synchronized swimmers and together they give a gold medal performance," says Linda Kaplan Thaler, CEO and chief creative officer of the agency that bears her name. "He's been seen starring in a classic black & white film, spending time with the Looney Tunes gang, but this time he's entered the grueling world of Olympic training."
