Daniel P. Amos, AFLAC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Named
the Best CEO for Insurance/Life by Institutional Investor Magazine
COLUMBUS, Ga., Feb. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Daniel P. Amos,
AFLAC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, has been named the Best
CEO for the Insurance/Life category by Institutional Investor
magazine for the second consecutive year. Amos began working in
sales for AFLAC in 1973. In 1983, he was named president and then
chief operating officer in 1987. Amos was named chief executive
officer of AFLAC Incorporated in 1990. He has been chairman since
2001. Amos is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree
in risk management and insurance. He is responsible for the
broadening of AFLAC's U.S. and Japan product lines. He is also
responsible for launching the company's national advertising
program, which features the popular AFLAC duck. During Amos' tenure
as CEO, revenues have grown from $2.7 billion to $11.4 billion as
of December 31, 2003. AFLAC's market capitalization has grown from
$1.3 billion to over $19 billion. Institutional Investor's top CEOs
were selected based on the responses of research analysts and
portfolio managers at more than 400 money management firms. They
were asked: "Who do youregard as the best CEO in the sector or
sectors for which you're responsible?" The magazine also asked the
same question of brokerage firm analysts who received votes in its
annual All-America Research Team rankings. The voting ended in late
