Symantec Corp. (SYMC) said Thursday that Greg Clark will step
down from his role as chief executive effective immediately,
sending shares of the cybersecurity company down 9% during
after-market trading.
The California company said board director Richard Hill would
succeed Mr. Clark on an interim basis while a search process for a
permanent CEO is underway.
Mr. Clark had led the company since 2016. He will also step down
as a Symantec director, shrinking the size of the company's board
to 12.
Mr. Hill has been a member of Symantec's board since January. He
has served as chairman of semiconductor company Marvell Technology
Group Ltd. since May 2016.
Separately, Symantec said Vincent Pilette, the financial chief
of Logitech International SA (LOGI) and a former Hewlett Packard
Enterprise Co. (HPE) executive, will be its new CFO, effective May
21. The company's former CFO, Nicholas Noviello, left the company
in January to pursue other opportunities, the company said.
