Interactive Intelligence (Nasdaq: ININ), a global provider of
unified IP business communications solutions, has created the
Interactive Intelligence Foundation Corp., a not-for-profit
charitable corporation.
The primary mission of the Foundation is to use resources and
funding to foster life improvements for at-risk youth.
“Since I founded Interactive Intelligence over sixteen years ago
we’ve grown into an 800-person company, been recognized by analysts
as a leader in our industry, and are now one of the 100 largest
software companies in the world,” said Interactive Intelligence
CEO, Dr. Donald E. Brown. “We’ve been very fortunate and would like
to use whatever influence we’ve gained to benefit young people who
may be facing an up-hill battle.
“As a father of eight children I know the tremendous potential
of today’s youth. Yet the challenges they currently face can often
seem insurmountable. The mission of the Interactive Intelligence
Foundation is to provide a helpful hand to young people who may be
at risk,” Brown concluded.
The Foundation plans call for funds to be raised beginning Jan.
1, 2011 through Interactive Intelligence corporate donations, an
annual fundraising event, and through employee and “friends of the
foundation” contributions.
The Interactive Intelligence Foundation will distribute the
funds it raises to a small number of not-for-profit organizations
whose missions are aligned with the mission of the foundation.
Funds will be distributed roughly commensurate with the Interactive
Intelligence employee geographic distribution, with approximately
two-thirds of the funds raised being distributed to local causes
that benefit youth in the state of Indiana. Special emphasis will
be placed on projects that promote technology education to the
targeted at-risk youth sector.
Interactive Intelligence employees will have opportunities to
donate their time volunteering for various foundation committees.
Additionally, at the decision of the foundation’s board of
directors, a portion of the foundation’s funds may be directed at
times to assist world crises and natural disasters.
