Fisher Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: FSCI) announced today that KPLZ-FM, its Seattle Hot AC station branded as STAR 101.5, ranked #1 in all key dayparts and demographics in the first three months of Arbitron's new Personal People Meter (PPM) ratings system, which became effective yesterday in the Seattle-Tacoma radio market.

Fisher Radio Seattle General Manager Jim Clayton said, "It is rewarding for our staff and Company to learn that STAR 101.5 is the #1 station in Seattle and also that our total weekly listenership has nearly doubled." Clayton added, "In the Winter 2009 ratings, STAR 101.5 was the #1 station in Seattle for Women 25-54 and we're thrilled to see that we held on to those ratings, and we're encouraged that the results from the first three months under the new PPM measurement showed similar results across all demographic segments." The April May June PPM showed STAR 101.5 number one in Women 25-54, Adults 25-54 and in other key demographics.

Effective yesterday, advertisers in the Seattle-Tacoma market will buy radio advertising on the basis of the new PPM methodology; the previous Diary methodology will no longer be used. The PPM is a device (about the size of a cell phone) that people carry with them throughout the day, which electronically records the station(s) they listen to.

The new ratings system measures what people are actually listening to through embedded encoded signals from each station, whereas the previous diary ratings method relied on listeners remembering what they heard during the day and writing it down.
