BEDFORD, Mass., Nov. 02, 2016 (GLOBE
NEWSWIRE) -- Datawatch Corporation (NASDAQ-CM:DWCH) today
announced Datawatch Monarch for Tableau, a customized version of
its market-leading self-service data preparation (prep)
solution that enables Tableau users to speed time-to-insight from
visual analysis. With this new solution, users can rapidly access,
manipulate and blend data from the widest variety of sources,
including PDF documents and other multi-structured dark data
sources, and then export it directly into the Tableau platform for
analysis and visualization. In conjunction with this
moderately-priced release at $39 per user per month, Datawatch is
also offering a competitive trade-in program for current Alteryx
users, providing Monarch for Tableau free for the remainder of
their existing contract.
Self-service analytics solutions, such as Tableau,
have significantly grown in popularity over the last few years
because of their promise to help users generate business results
faster. However, business users still struggle with obtaining,
accessing and preparing information, rather than focusing on the
actual analysis and visualization of results. Alternative solutions
are price prohibitive for multiple users in an organization and
bring a complex user experience that is challenging for most
business analysts. The Monarch for Tableau solution and Alteryx
trade-in program are designed specifically to address these
obstacles, allowing every business user the ability to unlock,
prepare and blend dark data for faster insights.
Datawatch Monarch for Tableau allows any business
user to access data from virtually any source, including
multi-structured and unstructured documents such as enterprise
reports, web pages, relational databases, cloud-based data sources,
PDFs, JSON and log files. Users gain access to not only the right
data, but all of the data, which is crucial to getting
a holistic view of the business, and can prepare this information
in a fraction of the time that it takes using spreadsheets and
other manually intensive methods.
"Pulling and organizing data from sources across
the organization is a time-consuming process, especially as the
majority of data is difficult to access and not in an
'analysis-ready' format," said Jen Underwood, industry analyst and
former Tableau Zen Master. "This 'dark data' is often the most
valuable to achieve comprehensive insight into business operations,
and leaving it out of the analysis process can result in decisions
being made based on incomplete information. Datawatch Monarch is a
market leader in enterprise-ready, easy-to-use self-service data
prep. Tableau users will greatly benefit from the ability to access
and transform this formerly unusable data into a format that can be
effortlessly uploaded, visually displayed and easily analyzed."
Additional features of Datawatch Monarch for
Tableau include:
- Simple, Yet Advanced Data Preparation -
Drop a file or document on a prep canvas, and data is instantly
available in rows and columns. More than 100 pre-built functions,
including deduplication, fuzzy matching and negative joins, are
available to transform and manipulate data with simple mouse
clicks.
- The Ability to Work with Very Large Data Sets - Perform data prep on a subset of
loaded data first for improved data processing speed and
efficiency, and then apply finalized workflows to the full data set
before uploading for visual analysis.
- Built-in Security and Information
Governance - Leverage features such as data
masking to protect sensitive information, including patient names
and social security numbers, and meet regulatory requirements.
- Optional Automation Server - Augment with Monarch Server Automation
Edition to define, schedule and execute repeatable data prep
processes.
"With analysts predicting that data amounts and
information sources will continue to grow exponentially, the
ability to find, access and prepare the right data for analysis is
more important than ever," said Jon Pilkington, chief product
officer at Datawatch. "Datawatch Monarch for Tableau empowers
Tableau users with this capability, enabling them to expedite data
analysis and visualizations for informed business decision making,
improved collaborative processes and a holistic view of company
operations."
