Goss International, a manufacturer of printing presses and finishing equipment for the commercial and newspaper printing industry, has driven cost savings for its customers of as much as $40,000 in one week since adding an online training solution from Citrix Online, a division of Citrix Systems, Inc. Goss International has used Citrix® GoToTraining®, an easy-to-use, affordable tool for delivering interactive, online training sessions from any location, to provide its customers electrical maintenance training on its printing equipment.

Previously, Goss had been conducting training sessions exclusively onsite at customers’ premises, which was time consuming and expensive. Trainings typically required shutting down customer presses and lining up crews for participation. For a customer with a mid-size printing operation, the potential loss in production time for a one-week onsite training session ran as high as $40,000. Also, with printers working two 12-hour shifts, there was not time to train the second shift.

This year, the company added an online option to the electrical maintenance training programs for newspaper printers which eliminated travel costs and minimized costly operational downtime for its customers.

“We’ve really transformed a sector of our business. In addition to the substantial cost savings we’ve realized since using GoToTraining, we can train more customers, record and monitor the sessions and offer clients flexibility and convenience,” explained Rick Aubin, manager of U.S. training programs, Goss International. “One of our electrical trainers has significantly increased his productivity with 75 percent of his job exclusively done through online training. We’ll continue to evaluate where GoToTraining may be incorporated into other facets of our training in the future.”

“Our purpose-built training solution makes it easy for companies and their customers to transition their training programs online,” said Elizabeth Cholawsky, vice president of products and client services, Citrix Online. “GoToTraining provides the flexibility companies need to extend the reach of their training programs and maintain a competitive edge, as well as increase efficiency and productivity. It also enables significant cost savings, as demonstrated by Goss’ deployment of GoToTraining.”
