CalAmp Corp. (NASDAQ: CAMP), a leading provider of wireless products, services and solutions, has been selected by the City of Plano, Texas to install a mobile data network for the municipality's police, fire and emergency medical service (EMS) agencies. The contract is for approximately $1.5 million and is scheduled to be completed in nine months.

The project calls for the deployment of CalAmp's latest generation native-IP mobile data system. The advanced communications network includes redundant network control routers, CalAmp Paragon4 base stations and Gemini3 agile dual-band mobile modems with embedded GPS for automatic vehicle location functionality. Operating in 700 MHz licensed frequencies, the data communications network will use CalAmp's proprietary Parallel Decode technology for dependable, in-motion, high-speed mobile data delivery. The project award includes system engineering, implementation and project management services during all phases of the program, and technical support for five years following system deployment.

"A robust, wide-area mobile data network is critical to our ability to provide timely and effective police, fire and EMS public safety services to the City's more than 250,000 residents."
