Atos has opened its first artificial intelligence lab in London as part of a wider partnership between the France-based IT firm and Google Cloud.

Businesses as well as public-sector organizations across Europe will be able to use the lab's AI technologies, and design test-cases targeted to their needs, such as using data analytics and machine-learning to reduce finanical-services fraud, said Atos.

The Atos AI Lab will also help Atos enrich its Codex Industry Solutions data analytics suite with Google AI and data technologies and foster an ecosystem of highly-skilled AI workers in London and Europe, it said.

Atos and Google Cloud launched their partnership in April to offer organizations services ranging from hybrid clouds to machine learning. The Atos AI Lab in London forms part of this wider strategy to fulfill customers' "digital transformation needs," it said.

U.K. Minister of State for Digital and Creative Industries Margot James was present for the opening of the AI hub, which should provide a boost to the U.K.'s technology sector, Atos said.

Two additional Atos AI labs are slated to be opened in Paris, France, and Dallas, Texas.

The French IT services firm said its annual revenues amount to 13 billion euros ($15 billion).
