Tata Motors Profit Halved Last Quarter

NEW DELHI--Tata Motors Ltd. (500570.BY) said its profit halved
last quarter, hurt by weak performance at both its home and Jaguar
Land Rover operations.
The auto maker reported a net profit of 21.75 billion rupees
($319.5 million) in the three months ended March, down from
INR43.36 billion a year earlier. Revenue rose 16% to INR912.79
billion.
Pretax profit at JLR, which contributes the bulk of Tata Motors'
earnings, declined 46% to 364 million pounds ($488.9 million),
while the pretax loss at Tata Motors' home operations narrowed 40%
to INR4.74 billion.
Shares of Tata Motors closed 0.5% higher ahead of the
results.
