Briggs Equipment, Inc. US Acquires MacKinnon Equipment & Services, Expands Hyster-Yale and JCB Territories
July 13 2017 - 8:53AM
Briggs Equipment US (Briggs Equipment), a Sammons Enterprises, Inc.
company, announced it has acquired substantially all the assets of
MacKinnon Equipment & Services (MacKinnon). The acquisition
expands the presence of Briggs Equipment’s material handling
business in Florida and Georgia. MacKinnon Equipment Services is
operating as a DBA of Briggs Equipment with no changes to
leadership or business approach. Alex MacKinnon continues to act as
President of MacKinnon and oversees the business reporting to Chris
Meinecke, President and Chief Operating Officer of Briggs
Equipment.
“The team at Briggs has always held MacKinnon founder Sandy
MacKinnon and his team in the highest regard. Now joining forces,
Briggs and MacKinnon will be even stronger in Florida and Georgia,”
said Chris Meinecke, President and Chief Operating Officer of
Briggs Equipment. “The team at MacKinnon is looking forward to
continued growth and this next chapter in the evolution of our
company. We will continue to provide the level of service our
customers expect while working to grow our current Yale, JCB and
other partners in the markets we serve,” said Alex MacKinnon.
Briggs Equipment has 29 branch locations across the US. The
acquisition adds five branches to the company’s footprint including
four locations in Florida and one in Georgia. Briggs Equipment and
MacKinnon sell, rent, and service Hyster, Yale, JCB and other
material handling and construction equipment brands for a diverse
group of customers.
“The MacKinnon transaction is supportive of the growth strategy
for Briggs Equipment and Sammons Enterprises,” said Darron Ash,
Chief Executive Officer of Briggs International and Senior Vice
President of Sammons Enterprises, Inc. “As with previous
acquisitions, we expect the MacKinnon business and its employees to
benefit from being a Sammons Enterprises company, with access to
the expanded resources and capabilities available to them as part
of this global holding company.”
The transaction closed June 30. Details of the deal are
confidential.
