Corning Wins Data Center Cabling Product of the Year at DCS Awards for Fifth Straight Year
June 14 2017 - 8:15AM
CORNING, N.Y.;
JUNE 14, 2017 - Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW)
announced today that its EDGE8(TM) solution was
crowned "Data Center Cabling Product of the Year" at the 2017
Data Center Solutions (DCS) Awards in London. This is the
fifth consecutive year that a Corning product has won a DCS
award.
Corning's EDGE8 solution is the industry's first
modular, tip-to-tip optical cabling system to feature an 8-fiber
(base-8) cabling design that maximizes per-rack-unit density for
better network scalability and improved link performance. Since its
original launch, the EDGE8 solution has evolved to provide even
greater flexibility in high-speed deployments.
"To win this award for the fifth straight year is
a testament to the quality and value others find in our products,"
said Kim Hartwell, senior vice president and chief commercial
officer for Corning Optical Communications. "The ongoing success of
our EDGE8 solution comes from our extensive collaboration with
customers and a commitment to maintaining highly efficient,
forward-looking infrastructures with a focus on total cost of
ownership. Global adoption across a diverse range of applications
and back-to-back wins at the DCS Awards are proof of this
success."
Corning's leading market position in optical
communications, along with its core technologies and manufacturing
platforms, make it well positioned to facilitate an industrywide
trend toward faster transmission speeds in data centers. By
deploying the EDGE8 solution, data centers can be future-ready to
support all network architectures and speeds from 1G to 400G on two
and eight fibers with 100 percent fiber utilization.
"This year's finalists represent the very best in
the industry, and Corning was voted as outstanding by our
readership to win the Data Center Cabling Product of the Year
category," said Jason Holloway, director of IT publishing at Angel
Business Communications, organizers of the DCS Awards.
"I am hugely grateful that our customers,
distributors, and IT industry peers have once again taken the time
to recognize Corning's achievements," said Tony Robinson, EMEA
marketing manager for Corning. "Along with my technical and
commercial colleagues, we would like to extend our personal thanks
for this tremendous support."
The "Data Center Cabling Product of the Year"
category was contested by a range of leading data center cabling
technologies. Products were evaluated on their ability to
demonstrate competitive advantage and a clear return on investment
for users.
