Jeffrey McIntyre to lead American Water’s
Mid-Atlantic Division
West Virginia American Water has named Brian Bruce its new
president, effective March 1, 2017. Bruce replaces Jeffrey
McIntyre, who has been named senior vice president of American
Water’s Mid-Atlantic Division, encompassing Pennsylvania and West
Virginia. McIntyre will also become president of Pennsylvania
American Water.

Bruce is currently president of New York American Water,
providing high-quality and reliable water and/or wastewater
services to approximately 350,000 people. In this role, he is
responsible for all aspects of the business -- including customer,
regulatory and local government relationships and operational
performance -- and is the principal external contact for American
Water in New York.
Prior to his current position, Bruce was New York American Water
vice president of Operations, where he oversaw the operations of
the company’s customer service, production, water quality,
environmental management, transmission and distribution, risk
management and maintenance departments. He came to New York
American Water from California American Water, where he held a
variety of roles of progressing responsibility within the
company.
Before joining American Water in 2005, Bruce worked for the city
of Papillion, Neb., first as water department superintendent,
obtaining his State Grade 1 Operators License, and later as
assistant public works director. He also has experience as a water
system operator in Wisconsin, where he earned state licensure in
Supply Operations – Surface and Ground Water. Additionally, he has
a license in the state of Michigan in Plant Operations and
Distribution.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Bruce earned a bachelor’s degree in
business management from Silver Lake College in Wisconsin and an
associate degree in water and wastewater technology from Bay De Noc
Community College in Michigan.
