Walmart and the Walmart Foundation Announce $250,000 towards Relief and Recovery Efforts in Tennessee Wildfires

Walmart and the Walmart Foundation have made a commitment to
provide support of $250,000 to organizations helping with relief
efforts for those affected by Tennessee wildfires in Sevier County,
which includes Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville. The funds
will assist coordination efforts with local elected officials and
governmental entities to meet the needs of those who need it
most.
“We are deeply saddened by these devastating fires and
the catastrophic effect it is having on our associates and
residents of Sevier County,” said Lee Siler, Walmart’s Sr. Manager
for Global Disaster Response and Preparedness. “Since the initial
notification of the fire, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation have
been fully committed to the relief efforts, donating water and
sheltering supplies and we will continue to work with local
organizations in offering them our full support.”
Walmart has a long history of providing aid in times of
disasters, helping communities prepare and recover by donating
emergency supplies, such as food and water, home and personal
products. In the last 10 years, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation
have donated more than $56 million in cash and in-kind donations in
response to disaster events.
