Lee Enterprises (NYSE: LEE), a leading provider of news,
information and advertising in 50 markets, has promoted Deborah
Anselm, general manager of Times Media Company, to publisher of the
Quad City Times. She succeeds Greg Veon, who is retiring after
nearly 40 years with Lee.
Anselm, 52, has more than 15 years of leadership experience with
Lee’s northwest Indiana enterprise, which includes The Times,
nwitimes.com and several specialty publications.
“The Quad City Times has long been a vital part of community and
commerce in the Quad Cities area,” Anselm said. “It’s truly an
honor to be named publisher of a newspaper with such a deep and
storied past in Lee Enterprises. I’m eager to begin work with my
new colleagues and become involved in the Quad Cities
community.”
Anselm was named general manager of The Times in 2013 and added
the role of vice president of sales and marketing in 2014. Her
career with the company also includes director of marketing,
general manager of Porter County operations and retail advertising
manager.
“Deborah is a strong, energetic leader who has contributed
greatly to the success of Lee,” said Kevin Mowbray, executive vice
president and chief operating officer. “She is coming from one of
Lee’s top performing markets, and I’m confident she has the skill
and experience to lead the Quad City Times to the same level of
excellence and further strengthen Lee as a whole.”
Times Media Company was named Lee Enterprise of the Year in
2014.
“She also will be a wonderful asset to the Quad Cities,” Mowbray
added. “Deborah has served her local community in Indiana with
great passion and commitment. I’m looking forward to the
contributions she’s sure to make here.”
Anselm has been active in a number of community development and
charitable organizations. She is the current chair of the Greater
Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Getting Results
Porter County Community Task Force and the Valparaiso Community
Schools Building Advisory Committee.
Her current active board memberships include: Porter Starke
Foundation; Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County; Opportunity
Enterprises; and the Pink Ribbon Society. Anselm has also served on
the board of directors for the American Cancer Society and the

Anselm is a 1987 graduate of Indiana University. She and her
husband, Scott, have three children.
