SMITHS FALLS, ON, Oct. 1, 2015 /CNW/ - Tweed Inc. (Tweed),
wholly owned subsidiary of Canopy Growth Corporation (Canopy
Growth) (TSXV: CGC), and DNA Genetics are excited to announce a
first-in-kind exclusive partnership between Canada's leading Licensed Producer and one of
the most widely recognized and acclaimed global brands in cannabis
breeding and genetics.
Over the past decade, genetics bred by DNA have won more than
125 awards around the world transforming DNA Genetics into a global
powerhouse for breeding and growing truly best-in-class strains.
The exclusive Canadian partnership will see Tweed leverage DNA's
expertise to bring its own product offering to new heights, and to
launch it's own breeding program to bring new, exclusive DNA-bred
strains to Tweed customers.
"We view ourselves as being the best in the industry at what we
do, and we only want to work with the best producer and that is
Tweed," said Don of DNA Genetics. "Providing the best possible
cannabis means combining all the right processes, with the right
infrastructure and then nurturing and identifying the best genetics
for every strain. We're excited to be part of that at Tweed." Added
Aaron, the other half of DNA Genetics: "And let's face it – you
can't miss the chance to grow some world class Chocolope in an old
chocolate factory."
"We think customers will look at this as a big win," said
Mark Zekulin, President of Tweed.
"Earlier this month we teamed up with the world leader in
standardized medicinal cannabis with the acquisition of Bedrocan
Canada. Now on the other end of the spectrum we have added an
award-winning global powerhouse in breeding and genetics, acclaimed
for the unique strain profiles their cannabis possesses."
The partnership will see DNA Genetics provide ongoing consulting
services to Tweed, while assisting in phenotyping and grow method
developments. Through the Tweed-DNA breeding program, the only
place where Canadian patients will be able to acquire true,
certified DNA strains grown to DNA standards will be Tweed.
Here's to future growth … Powered by DNA.
