Hain Celestial Group Inc. said Tuesday that former New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly has joined its board, while the natural-foods company reported a 20% jump in sales in its latest quarter.

Mr. Kelly served as New York's police commissioner for 14 years. Last year, Mr. Kelly joined commercial real-estate firm Cushman & Wakefield Inc. in a new division to advise clients on how to protect themselves from terrorism, crime and other threats.

Lake Success, N.Y.-based Hain Celestial's products include Arrowhead Mills nut butters, Terra Chips and Celestial Seasonings teas. Whole Foods Market Inc. is one of its largest customers.

For its fiscal-fourth quarter ended June 30, Hain Celestial reported a profit of $71.1 million, or 68 cents a share, up from $35.7 million, or 35 cents a share, a year earlier.

Excluding special items, per-share earnings were 55 cents.

Sales jumped to $698.1 million from $583.8 million a year earlier.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters had forecast 55 cents a share in earnings on $694.7 million in revenue.

For its newly started fiscal year, the company forecast earnings of $2.11 to $2.26 a share on sales of $2.97 billion to $3.11 billion. Analysts had been expecting $2.19 a share in earnings on $2.98 billion in sales.
