Publication details the company’s strides in building a culture of sustainability and in making a positive difference around the world

IHS Inc. (NYSE: IHS), the leading global source of critical information and insight, today announced the publication of its 2013 Sustainability Report. The report, which is available online, provides a progress update on the previous year’s successes and highlights upcoming sustainability goals and objectives.

Among its major achievements for 2013: IHS was named for the first time to the Dow Jones North America Sustainability Index. The company also exceeded its goal of 10,000 colleague volunteer hours, with nearly 16,000 total hours shared in the communities it serves.

In related news, Newsweek today ranked IHS 20th on its “Green Rankings 2014” list of the top 500 US companies that are generating the most revenue with the least amount of environmental impact. The report details the measurable ways in which 8,000 IHS colleagues directly shape a sustainable culture by engaging in community outreach activities and in giving back through volunteering and team-driven community improvement efforts. New elements to the IHS sustainability program added in 2013, included a materiality analysis, goal setting and commitments across the business, as well as Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) mapping. These new elements lend insight and transparency into how sustainability is embedded within IHS and throughout the company’s culture.
