Leading semiconductor solutions
provider Broadcom Corporation (BRCM) recently
introduced the industry's first triple speed 10/40/100G Lite
physical layer transceiver (Lite-PHY) for high-density data center
applications.
The BCM82322 Lite-PHY is fabricated in 28 nanometer (nm)
complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology and
consumes 50% less power than other similar products available in
the market with the highest port count density. These transceivers
optimize high-speed routing functions and eases out the board
design for server and network equipment manufacturers.
There is a growing demand for 10/40/100G ports and Broadcom
continues to meet this demand by developing devices which are
ideally suited for these requirements. With this product line, the
company aims to deliver the highest level of performance and
integration facilities while significantly reducing power
consumption. Broadcom is focused on innovative technologies related
to connectivity, bandwidth and content, which enable it to capture
a sizeable market share. This new product line is an initiative in
this endeavor.
Broadcom is also well placed in the fast-growing wired and wireless
communications markets, with other cutting-edge solutions for a
growing number of connected users, who are demanding more content
and bandwidth. These include a portfolio of system-on-a-chip (SoC)
and software solutions to manufacturers of computing and networking
equipment, digital entertainment and broadband access products, and
mobile devices
Based in Irvine, Calif, Broadcom is engaged in designing and
marketing semiconductor components of network voice, video, and
data traffic for various applications.
Broadcom currently has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). Other stocks that
look promising and are worth a look in the industry include
FORMFactor Inc. (FORM), Himax Technologies
Inc. (HIMX) and Integrated Device Technology,
Inc. (IDTI), each carrying a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
