Wave Announces Comprehensive Management for Kingston's KC300 Opal SSD Drives

LEE, MA--(Marketwired - Mar 11, 2014) -  Wave Systems Corp. (NASDAQ: WAVX) announced today it is offering full management of Kingston Technology's line of self-encrypting solid-state drives for stronger security and faster performance. The Kingston SSDNow KC300 is available in a version that is compliant with the Opal security standard from the Trusted Computing Group (TCG) and is available in 60-, 120- and 240GB capacities.

The SSDNow KC300 is compatible with Wave's EMBASSY Remote Administration Server and Wave Cloud 2014, the only cloud-based management solution for self-encrypting drives (SEDs) on the market. When paired together, Wave and Kingston deliver a powerful tool to ensure that encryption is always on, and information is protected.

"With the introduction of the Opal 1.0 compliant SSD, Kingston has demonstrated its commitment to data security and performance, giving end-users strong assurance that their sensitive data is safe and secure at the endpoint," said Wave CEO Bill Solms.

Wave enables pre-boot authentication to the drive, automated user enrollment, drive locking, emergency access, crypto-erase, policy enforcement and remote management. Detailed event logs offer independent verification that information on a drive is protected should a device become lost or stolen -- essential for compliance with the growing number of data protection laws and regulations.

"With the growing popularity of solid-state drives in today's enterprise and the need for stronger encryption, Kingston is proud to offer a version of its top-selling KC300 SSD that is compliant with the TCG Opal standard," said Ariel Perez, SSD Business Manager Kingston. "We're pleased to have in Wave, a strong partner offering companies ease of management, flexibility and the assurance their sensitive information is always secure."
