25 million square foot Kansas City area complex now supports fiber, WiFi & Internet of Things (IofT)

IceWEB, Inc. (OTC BB:IWEB; “IceWEB” or the “Company”), a provider of wireless and fiber broadband service, co-location space and related services and the operator of a Network Access Point (“NAP”) where customers directly interconnect with a network ecosystem of partners and customers, today announced the launch of a major project in the Kansas City area to provide the 550 Acre Carefree Caves complex and 4.2 million square feet of office park and underground buildings with advanced Internet, Phone, Video, HVAC and Sensor Control. New services will be delivered by internal fiber and by high capacity licensed microwave from up to 27 different carriers fed from the Company’s Network Access Point (NAP), the KCNAP, which was part of IceWEB’s recent merger with Computers & Tele-Comm, Inc. (“CTC”).

One of the overriding considerations for the Carefree Complex was carrier diversity and the ability to service everything from one unified network. Graeme Gibson, Chief Technologist of IceWEB, Inc., explained: “Because of the vast size of the complex, measuring more than 7 times the interior volume of the Empire State Building, we needed one secure network for all client and sub tenant networking. This included two additional requirements: the ability to support cell phones in underground roadways and a sophisticated network of Things. This machine to machine system is able to combine HVAC, Security, Biometrics, Video Surveillance, Time clock, door control, and air quality sensors.”

As part of the overall ten year agreement, CTC had worked collaboratively with Aginova to utilize their advanced CO2 detectors to monitor underground air quality. According to Matthew Vaughn, Aginova Operations Manager, their new gas sensors were a perfect fit for the project, where provisioning wired sensors would be exceedingly difficult as they operate via WiFi. Vaughn commented, “With a decade of experience with WiFi and cloud based network architecture, working with IceWEB’s subsidiary CTC was a joy. Since our sensors work both with local servers, and with the cloud, we have seen repeatedly how important superior networking is in deploying reliable service.”

Gibson added: “Our initial deployment covers roughly one-third of the overall complex volume with cell coverage over three of the main roadways. Three large sub tenants were included in the pilot project and we are now prepared to extend service to the entire complex as demand warrants. During the planning process, full interconnectivity to our data centers and 27 carriers was made possible using our Virtual Meet Me Room technology (VMMR). This includes remote storage, cloud backup and disaster recovery or high availability services.

Harold Compton, CEO of IceWEB, commented, “We’re thrilled to provide advanced Internet, Phone, Video, HVAC and Sensor Control to their vast and expansive complex and 4.2 million square feet of office park and underground buildings. Considering the total volume of the complex and services already launched, IceWEB’s opportunity here is significant now and moving forward. There are a number of new networking services that we can now launch and look forward to doing so in the time ahead.”
