Dow Jones News
The incoming chief executive of Cummings Inc. (CMI), Tom
Linebarger, said some nations in Europe may currently be in a
recession, and fears the U.S. could be in one as well, The
Financial Times reports on its website Sunday. He said it "wouldn't
surprise me to find out that the U.S. is already in negative
growth," adding "The U.S. is already weak. If Europe gets a bad
cold, the U.S. will get much sicker," the FT said. But he also said
he was optimistic over the long-term, the FT reported. "I don't
think the next six to nine months are going to be terrific, but if
you look out over four or five years, I think it's going to be good
over that time," he told the FT.
