Accredited Transcription Corp. previously acquired full ownership of United States Patent 6,298,328. ATC retained the Law Offices of Randall S. Newman, P.C., of New York, to protect its intellectual rights. Attorney Newman, licensed to practice in New York, New Jersey, and California, possesses significant federal court and class action experience. Attorney Newman will assist ATC in locating entities that are infringing on its patent, serving appropriate cease and desist notices, and initiating litigation if a fair royalty agreement cannot be negotiated.

ATC believes that its technology is being infringed upon by many entities and that it is entitled to residual royalties from products that utilize an off-site system to convert voice to data and relay it back to the person sending the voice file. Many companies are currently using what appears to be ATC's technology, with slight modifications and improvements, albeit without paying royalties including Google, Apple (Siri), Samsung, and Vlingo Inc. The technology is being used by companies ranging from fast food restaurants for their drive through windows to medical and legal transcription services.

The technologies appear to have infringed on the patent since the users speak into their device, the voice is transmitted to a central data processing facility via electronic transmissions, the sounds are converted to text, and the data is returned to the device. ATC believes that these procedures violate its patent and that those who misuse its technology must either license it, pay royalties, or cease infringement.
