performing pretty pathetically, as just two of the 15 markets that
we track are positive. For what it's worth, the currently trading
bourses have moved away from early session lows to bring the
cumulative average return on the group a bit higher to a minus
0.598 percent. In advance of the U.S. PMI numbers, the July PMI
reading out of Germany was reported at 56.6 versus 55.9 in June.
This reading indicated that the German manufacturing sector grew
for an 11th consecutive month and at its fastest pace since August
2000. Analysts had expected a reading of 56.1. The Euro-Zone as a
whole showed manufacturing improvement with the July PMI index
coming in at 54.7 versus the 54.4 posted in June. There are no
early economic data releases this morning, so we have to wait until
the 10:00 a.m. hour for the July Institute for Supply Management
(ISM) Manufacturing Index which is seen improving a bit to 61.6
from June's 61.1. This sentiment-based index offers up a broad view
of the manufacturing sector and could impact the market on several
fronts ranging from employment indications to a pipeline of fresh
orders. Sharing that spotlight will be June Construction Spending,
which is expected to hold at unchanged versus the prior month's 0.3
percent rise. This week's earnings calendar still contains over 300
scheduled reports. Be prepared for the investing week ahead with

DYNAMIC MARKET OPPORTUNITIES With August here, the Red Zone
investment group's Ian Cooper is again issuing a buy on a
back-to-school favorite. In five previous plays, Cooper has
recorded gains of 77%, 23%, 77%, 40% and 27% on Varsity Group. It
won't be long before the school buses are running again and 70
million students will refill U.S. classrooms. In a few weeks, those
students will be faced with the prospect of spending a fortune for
books and supplies. In August 2003, the amount of money spent in
college bookstores hit $2.2 billion. But you're not likely to see
higher levels of consumer spending this year with oil prices at
21-year highs. To combat this, consumers are heading to discount
stores and shopping online. Varsity Group is an online retailer of
textbooks and educational materials and through its eduPartners
division, it offering students a convenient and cheaper
alternative. The Red Zone team has a proven strategy, since Varsity
makes most of its money in January and August. There are plenty of
catalysts to score another quick and easy profit. Education
continues to be a booming business despite higher tuition bills.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are about 15.9 million
undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at over 4,000 colleges
and universities in the U.S. The Council on American Private
Education says secondary school enrollment is expected to rise 8%
between now and 2006. For Q1 2004, Varsity posted revenues of $1.8
million, compared to $1.2 million in Q1 2003 -- a 49% increase
thanks to continued growth in the number of schools it is reaching
with its eduPartners program. Varsity could be set for another
round of healthy gains. The Red Zone's Christian DeHaemer has
written a comprehensive free report highlighting the remarkable
scientific advances that are creating a lucrative new industry. To
