Kvaerner ASA election committee publishes proposal for a new board

LONDON, 25 APRIL 2001: The election committee of Kvaerner ASA, consisting of
Age Korsvold and Morten Sig Bergesen, today announced their nominations for
new directors to be elected to the board of the Company by shareholders at the
AGM on 4 May, 2001:

Harald Arnkvaern
Svein Rennemo
Kristian Siem

In addition, the election committee has proposed that the following directors
be re-elected:

Ole Enger
Johan Fr. Odfjell
Kjell Almskog

The board elects it own Chairman, and the election committee has assumed that
Harald Arnkvaern will be elected Chairman.

"This is a good proposal, and a proposal that will serve the interests of all
shareholders, said Christian Bjelland, Kvaerner's current Chairman.  The
proposed board will support the Group and give the Company a mandate to
continue the ongoing work to further develop shareholder value - in the best
interests of all shareholders," he said.

"In my opinion, this will be a strong and competent board of directors - and
the proposal has my fullest support," added Kjell E Almskog, President & CEO.
