                              NIMU PROJECT, TIBET

LONDON - 29May 2007 - Central China Goldfields plc (AIM: GGG) reports the first
results from early drilling activities at the Tinggong exploration licence area
in the Nimu copper project, ("Nimu").

The scout diamond drilling programme (up to 3,000m) is designed to test the
identified porphyry copper-molybdenum targets reported to shareholders on 9
October 2006 and 25 January 2007.

The new assay results from the first of five completed holes (TG01 to TG05) at
Tinggong are encouraging. The new data confirms the vertical and lateral
continuity of: i) geochemically anomalous copper and molybdenum values
indicated in the earlier 1:10,000 and 1:2,000-scale geological mapping/sampling
and IP/ground magnetic survey programme; ii) widespread phyllic altered
intrusive rocks, and iii) the presence of a variably thick and extensive
leached/oxidised cap rocks, particularly at Zongdina and Tuoxiong areas.

All of these components favour the localisation of supergene-enriched copper
oxide and sulphide mineralisation at the Nimu Project.

Scout drilling at Tinggong is continuing this summer, with further results
expected to be reported in June / July.

Jeff Malaihollo, Managing Director of Central China Goldfields, comments:

"The first drilling results at Tinggong have demonstrated the presence of
porphyry copper-molybdenum mineralisation which confirmed that we are in the
right geological area. We will continue to drill test targets in the Tinggong
area and other Nimu areas in search of supergene copper enrichment and sweet
spots of mineralisation".

Highlights:

  * Three holes (TG01 to TG03) were drilled at the lower sections of the
Zongdina area; all three holes hit mineralisation. Hole TG01 intersected
52.2 metres grading 0.32% Cu (equiv.) from 27.5 metres down hole; 11.8
metres grading 0.28% Cu (equiv.) from 91.7 metres down hole, and 58.0
metres grading 0.27% Cu (equiv.) from 120.3 metres down hole.

  * Hole TG02 intersected 65.7 metres grading 0.30% Cu (equiv.) from 20.0
metres down hole, including two metres grading 1.0% Cu (equiv.) from 20.0
    metres down hole.

  * Hole TG03 intersected 112.4 metres grading 0.24% Cu (equiv.) from 38.4
metres down hole, including 13.9 metres grading 0.38% Cu (equiv.) from 38.4
    metres down hole.

  * The higher elevation sections of Zongdina will be drill tested within the
    coming weeks.

  * TG04 was drilled at the northern part of Tuoxiong area and it intersected
barren propylitic sediments and dykes and therefore was not analysed. The
hole represents the northern fringe of the porphyry copper centre.

  * TG05 was drilled at the Tuoxiong area and it intersected 103.1 metres of
leached zone of very weak copper mineralisation, consisting of a very
coarse grained intensely oxidised quartz monzonite, intruded by dacite
    porphyry dykes.

GEOLOGICAL DETAILS:

The focus of the current scout diamond drilling in Tinggong is in two areas
(Zongdina and Tuoxiong), which were earlier reported as Blocks TG-A and TG-B,
respectively (see 25 January 2007 announcement).

Sampling and Analytical Details

Drill core samples (PQ, HQ, NQ core diametre sizes) are split into half by a
diamond saw cutting machine. The half splits, each weighing about 3-7
kilograms, are collected at an average interval of 2 metres. The specimens were
processed and analysed by Intertek Testing Service Ltd. Shanghai. Sample
preparation is conducted by Intertek-Kunming branch office, China. Copper,
silver, lead and zinc were analysed by atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) and
gold by 30 grammes fire assay with AAS finish at the Intertek-Beijing office,
China whilst the molybdenum, arsenic and antimony were analysed by x-ray
fluorescence (XRF) at the Intertek-Jakarta office, Indonesia. Routine
international-standard QA/QC procedures were used by Intertek. Two of the eight
elements analysed are reported here: copper (Cu) and molybdenum (Mo). The
detection limits for Cu and Mo are 2 ppm and 1 ppm, respectively.

Assay Results and Geological Interpretation

Assay results were received from four of the first five holes, and these are
outlined in Table 1.

Zongdina

The porphyry copper-molybdenum mineralisation at Zongdina is hosted by a quartz
monzonite porphyry (holes TG01 to TG03), which intruded a highly magnetic,
hornfelsed clastic rock package as seen in hole TG02. The quartz monzonite
porphyry appears to be the eastern limb of a bigger body, which is being mined
at the adjacent TibetCo (see 25 January 2007 announcement). It is highly
faulted and is intruded by dacite and andesite porphyry dykes and rare
lamprophyres at hole TG02.

The quartz monzonite porphyry shows relict potassic alteration, which is
overprinted by weak to strong phyllic-argillic alteration, particularly close
to major faults. Strong quartz+sulphides are developed locally. It grades
downwards to propylitic alteration assemblage. In contrast, the dacite exhibits
strong sericitic to chloritic alteration, whereas the andesite is mainly
propylitic.

Most of these features are observed in hole TG01, where the quartz monzonite
porphyry has a good correlation with copper and molybdenum mineralisation. In
addition, it is also clear that both dacite and andesite porphyry dykes are
generally less mineralised than the quartz monzonite porphyry. Since both dykes
have up to 1,000s and 100s ppm Cu, respectively, then both can be considered as
part of the minerakised system.

The base of oxidation at Zongdina is quite shallow (
