DE MING DING COPPER PROJECT PROGRESS

LONDON, 19 February 2007 - Central China Goldfields plc (AIM: GGG) is pleased
to report that it has extended its Agreement with Hubei Chuxiong Minerals
Exploration and Development Ltd ("HCMED") until 30 June 2007. The Agreement may
be extended further if more exploration time is required.

The Agreement is to explore and apply for Exploration Licences over the De Ming
Ding area in Tibet. The area is approximately 1,789 km2 and is prospective for
porphyry-type copper deposits (see news release of 24 April 2006).

De Ming Ding is located within the under-explored but metallogenically rich
Gangdese plutono-volcanic arc. The area borders the Qu Long porphyry copper
deposit (which is not part of the Agreement) that is reported to contain five
million tonnes of copper metal, 35,000 tonnes of molybdenum and 3,200 tonnes of
silver.

Last year the Company analysed the thermal signatures of the area using Landsat
ETM satellite data and, as a result, identified several target areas which have
iron oxide and clay anomalies which may be indications of mineralisation.

At the same time, HCMED has completed a 1:50,000 scale geological mapping over
1,311 km2, collected 4,641 stream sediments and 263 rock samples and undertook
ground magnetics over 1,230 km2. The chemical analyses of all the samples are
in progress and will be available by March 2007. HCMED has also identified
several mineral occurrences which need to be confirmed.

Field verification of these targets will commence as soon as the weather
permits.

Jeff Malaihollo, Managing Director of Central China Goldfields, comments:

"This is an early stage exploration project with significant potential. This,
together with the Nimu Project, gives us exposure to a large tract of land in
an under-explored yet very prospective copper belt which hosts some of the
largest copper deposits in Asia. Our joint work with HCMED over the last few
months has revealed several interesting targets and we look forward to
advancing these in the coming months."

Technical information in the Company news releases has been reviewed and
approved by Ciceron "Jun" Angeles (MSc. FAusIMM, CP Geo) the Company's
Exploration Manager. He is qualified as a Competent Person under the Code for
the Reporting Mineral Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and Mineral
Reserves, 2004 ("The Reporting Code") prepared by the Australasian Institute of
Mining and Metallurgy and the Australian Institute of Geoscientists.
