Joby Reports Third Quarter 2024 Results

Joby Aviation, Inc. (NYSE:JOBY), a next-generation aviation company, today issued its Third Quarter 2024 Shareholder Letter detailing the Company’s operational and financial results for the period ending September 30, 2024. The company will host a live audio webcast of its conference call to discuss the results at 2:00 p.m. PT (5:00 p.m. ET) today.

Third Quarter 2024 Highlights:
First International Demonstration: We completed a number of exhibition flights at Toyota’s Higashi-Fuji Technical Center in Japan, using our third production prototype aircraft which rolled off the production line less than three months prior.
Test and Certification: We reached a major landmark on our journey to type certification with the completion of our first FAA-conforming major sub-assembly, an aircraft tail. Our fourth production prototype is nearing completion and will join our flight test program shortly.
Regulatory Progress: Important progress was made with regulators in each of our targeted launch markets. In the U.S., we welcomed the publication of new operating regulations that lay the groundwork for the launch of commercial operations.
Toyota Investment: Building on nearly seven years of collaboration, Toyota committed to investing an additional $500 million in Joby, as part of an agreement that includes plans to establish a manufacturing alliance.
Strong Financial Foundation: At the end of the third quarter of 2024, we maintained a strong balance sheet with $710 million in cash and short-term investments. This balance does not include the approximately $222 million raised through a follow-on equity offering completed in October 2024 or the expected Toyota investments totaling $500 million.

People dumping $JOBY like they expected it to have $1B in revenue. People are so fickle!!! Buy the dip!

It is not a hot sector right now, so other than mini runs/pops and slides, I agree that it (and the sector buzz) will be in 2025-2026. That said, these ups and downs are excellent for building a position with a low or zero cost basis for the future depending on ones trading style.

Joby Applies to Become First Certified Electric Air Taxi Operator in UAE

Joby Aviation, Inc. (NYSE:JOBY), a company developing electric air taxis for commercial passenger service, today announced it has taken the first step towards becoming a certified air taxi operator in the United Arab Emirates.

Whole sector is down right now. JOBY down along with all the other eVTOL stocks.

Following its usual cyclical path. Will continue this pattern until commercialization IMO.
Buying dips and selling rips until then, while building a core of low priced or free shares. Just my style, not trading advice for anyone else.

JOBY hot again today. + .50 so far today.
Watching the declining volume as daily chart very overbought.
1minute chart shows buyers still active. Hmmm. Will it stall for a bit here at 7.47?

Update: 7.53 now with 189,000 shares mostly buys in 1 minute. Lots of fun. 😃

Overall bullish, but don't like giving back any large chunks. Don't mind trading up and downs at all.

Wow, JOBY testing $7 and breaking through daily and weekly resistance. Need staying power confirmation. Big ? now is where will price hold and build support? Both daily and weekly charts showing excess highs and hot indicators.
If you are a buyer just know that chartwise price is overbought right now and needs cooling, so do your DD and understand the odds ST and LT of more appreciation. Might be wise to set a mental stop loss. Just my opinion, not advice or recommendation. Trade by your own rules and strategies.

Great to see follow through after yesterdays pop. Would be awesome if yesterdays gap up becomes a permanent runaway gap. Price is now outside all standard metrics on a daily chart, so when and how much will it settle back to create a new support level. Time will tell. Who knows, there may be more news coming and price will keep going up for a bit more. Aren't these type of new emerging and potentially disruptive stocks fun? 😎

"Joby, in my opinion is doing everything correctly to achieve certification. Moving with purpose. Sometimes this is a slow process. For good reasons. Joby and their partners, Toyota, Delta, DOD and UAE... seems to compromise a very solid foundation. The ownership, engineers and staff seem to be excellent. Cash management seems to be on a glidepath to realistically achieve the goals of the company. Really not much to dislike. Most infrastructure is in place or fairly easily established. The transition to
pilotless flight and personal (the holy grail)use could be fairly smooth. Not a technical or hardware problem. Just the will of government to adopt a practical plan for low altitude flight. Will Joby replace the family car. Probably not. But for a sizeable few it will supplement their current form of transportation. "

"Joby has submitted many patents. I didn't know this until last night, but more than one of the patents is for their seat design. You heard me right: seats. Each seat can weigh the passenger. Below each seat is a ballast, presumably filled with battery coolant. The ballast is used to balance the plane to optimize flight based on each passenger's weight. Coolant is moved from one side to the other to equalize the weight.
Another cool patent is related to the vertiports and lighting (they have several of these). The perimeter of each landing zone consists of lights to assist with night landings. When the square is red, it means an eVTOL has occupied that zone. When the square is green, the zone is open."

"JOBY is clearly ahead of the competition on every level: certification progress, capitalization, industry partners, manufacturing process and advanced engineering. One example that illustrates JOBY'S superiority in very simple terms is the aircraft weight and payload. The JOBY S4.2 has an empty weight of 4300 pounds with a useful load of 1000 pounds and max takeoff weight of 5300 pounds. The Archer Midnight has an empty weight of 6000 pounds with the same useful load of 1000 pounds and 7000 pounds max takeoff weight. So the Archer is 1700 pounds or almost 40% heavier than the JOBY to carry the exact same payload. I don't think there's a better example than this as to JOBY'S prowess in this sector and that no other competitor can hold a candle to what JOBY has already accomplished not to mention what's about to happen over the next few years.
