GovSec – the Government Security Conference & Expo featuring the U.S. Law Enforcement Conference & Expo – announced that U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Chairman Dr. Gregory B. Jaczko will be the featured speaker at a general session during the annual conference, which takes place in Washington, D.C., April 2-4. Chairman Jaczko’s presentation on “Nuclear Security in the New Threat Environment” will be part of GovSec’s comprehensive programming related to the strategies and tactics for critical infrastructure protection.

“Whether the threats come from natural disaster, like Fukushima, or malicious assaults by individuals or terrorist organizations, we must be ready to prevent and respond to a wide variety of attacks that could adversely impact our nation’s critical infrastructure, including nuclear plants, electrical grid, water supply and communications networks,” said Don Berey, event director at GovSec. “We are pleased to have Chairman Jaczko at GovSec this year, as well as leaders from the FBI and other agencies who can discuss the methods being employed to protect these vital systems and share approaches for taking action if problems occur.”

Chairman Jaczko’s general session is part of GovSec’s free conference programming. His speech – which will focus on the NRC’s approach to physical security for nuclear reactors, fuel cycle facilities and nuclear material, as well as new initiatives in cybersecurity and counterintelligence – will take place on Wednesday, April 4 at 11:15 a.m.
