NAV CANADA announced today its traffic figures for the month of February 2012 as measured in weighted charging units for en-route, terminal and oceanic air navigation services, in comparison to the last fiscal year.

The traffic in February 2012 increased by an average of 3.6 per cent compared to the same month in 2011. Excluding the effect of an extra day for leap year, traffic growth for the month was 0.2 per cent.

Fiscal 2012 year-to-date traffic was 2.0 per cent higher than in the prior fiscal year. NAV CANADA's fiscal year runs from September 1 to August 31. Excluding the effect of leap year, year-to-date traffic grew 1.4 per cent.

Weighted charging units represent a traffic measure that reflects the number of flights, aircraft size and distance flown in Canadian airspace.
