                 Cammell Laird Appoint Non-Executive Director

Cammell Laird Holdings PLC, the international marine services company, has
appointed Hugh McCoy as a Non-executive Director of the Group with effect from
1st December 1999.

Mr McCoy has had a long and distinguished career in the international shipping
industry, and currently holds the prestigious chairmanship of the Baltic
Exchange.

He was previously Chairman of H.Clarkson & Co, the World's largest shipbroker
and Managing Director of Horace Clarkson Plc, the shipping and insurance
group, between 1996 and 1998.

Juan Kelly, Chairman of Cammell Laird, commenting on the appointment, said:

"We are delighted that Hugh McCoy is joining our Board as Non-executive
Director.  He continues to be involved with international shipping at the
highest level and brings with him a welcome depth of knowledge and experience.
