MAN SE said Tuesday that production at MAN Truck & Bus plants will gradually restart next week following a pause of about six weeks due to the coronavirus.

The Volkswagen AG subsidiary said the plants will restart production at reduced capacity starting Monday, and that it has put in place measures to protect employees.

Some MAN Truck & Bus employees, both in production and administration, will initially stay on short-time work, or will make use of flexible working-time arrangements and work from home wherever possible, the company said.

The company halted production in mid-March "to protect its employees, due to broken supply chains and the sharp drop in demand for commercial vehicles," it said.
