German labor union ver.di Tuesday called for warning strikes at
German logistics and mail company Deutsche Post AG (DPW.XE) to
begin Wednesday as part of an ongoing dispute over wages.
The strikes could continue for several days, ver.di said, but it
didn't mention when or under what conditions the strikes could be
called off.
"Our goal is clear, we want results at the next round of
negotiations on April 25," ver.di representative Andrea Kocsis
said.
The move comes after the union and company decided to push
negotiations back until the end of April, after Monday's second
round of negotiations failed to produce results.
Ver.di is seeking a 6% wage increase for about 132,000 employees
of Deutsche Post, and wage increases for trainees and other
employees.
The key issue that remains unresolved after Monday's talks is
related to special payments to federal civil servants, Deutsche
Post said.
Deutsche Post management board member Angela Titzrath, who is
responsible for human resources, said before the strikes were
announced that she is confident an agreement can be reached.
Negotiations are set to continue April 25.
