Hydrogen as a fuel/energy source is a nascent technology. Yeah it's not profitable, yet. And, under the current president, big companies don't feel like they need to work on unprofitable projects that are better for the environment.

Hydrogen is a word-wide product, not just for the US

That would be exciting but I doubt it will be anything soon. Reality says that this has a pretty good chance of significant delay just like all the other "booms" that people get excited about. Like so many news articles, it is all about getting views or clicks even when it's really not new news.

I don't think it's possible to judge the CEO until the business plan has had the time to play itself out. Someone who's viewed as a total failure one day may be viewed as a hero on another day. That day may be some time after the judgement of failure has been made by many.
