CompUSA today unveiled the grand opening of its West Kendall store, at 12200 North Kendall Drive (SW 88th Street), off of Highway 821 in Southwest Miami. It marks the fourth CompUSA in the greater Miami area, bringing the total number in Florida to 17 and the national store count to 27. A ceremonial ribbon cutting, a donation to the Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation, and store-wide specials will kick off the grand opening celebration, all starting at 5:00 p.m. today.

“CompUSA is on a roll in South Florida,” said Gilbert Fiorentino, Chief Executive of the Technology Products Group at Systemax Inc., parent company of CompUSA. “This is our second store opening in the area in less than a month, reflecting a groundswell of customer demand for our low prices combined with our enormous selection of computers, computer accessories, televisions and consumer electronics, all driven by our revolutionary shopping experience, Retail 2.0.”

The West Kendall CompUSA store is only the second CompUSA to be fully Retail 2.0-enabled from day one, providing shoppers with the convenience of online shopping, combined with the ability to actually sample the product in-person.

“I am so pleased to open the West Kendall CompUSA with full Retail 2.0 capabilities. Descriptions of this revolutionary system can only go so far. Only a hands-on demonstration can really do it justice, so I encourage South Floridians to just come on by and experience it for yourself,” continued Mr. Fiorentino. “Separately, we’re so proud to continue our tradition of engaging with and helping local communities through this gift to Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation.”

CompUSA is donating thirty Toshiba 26-inch high-definition (HD) televisions to the Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation, to replace their old TV sets; representing a $10,000 gift-in-kind. The HDTVs will be distributed throughout the main campus buildings, as well as the five ambulatory sites: Weston, Doral, West Kendall, Palmetto Bay, and Miami Lakes.

The Miami Children’s Hospital West Kendall Center, at 13400 SW 120th Street, serves families in the community by providing after-hours care for minor injuries and illnesses, outpatient X-ray services and rehabilitation services. The Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation is a not-for profit 501 (C) (3) established to create a world-class pediatric hospital, with the principle that all children deserve state-of-the-art pediatric care with no financial boundaries.
