Dow Jones News
Marathon Petroleum Corp. (MPC) reported a small pipeline leak
that led to emissions Tuesday morning at its Galveston Bay refinery
in Texas.
"The [gasoline-making] Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit #3
experienced a pin hole leak on transfer line," the refinery said in
a statement to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
"Operations isolated the piping and stopped the leak."
The emissions that followed, including some 500 pounds of
propane, began Tuesday morning and were expected to end later in
the morning, the refinery said.
The 459,000-barrel-a-day Galveston Bay refinery is located in
Texas City, off the entrance to the Houston Ship Channel.
