Products Will Provide Type-1 Information Security for Classified
Wireless Networks at Military Facilities in Hawaii ROCHESTER, N.Y.,
Dec. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an
international communications and information technology company,
has announced that its SecNet 11(R) family of products has been
certified for use by the U.S. Navy to provide information security
for classified wireless networks in various military applications.
The Navy has approved deploying SecNet 11 as part of the classified
Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) wireless solution at Pearl Harbor
and Camp Smith, Hawaii. NMCI is one of the world's largest internal
computer networks, with nearly 700,000 users dispersed around the
world. Harris is currently providing information technology
integration, infrastructure, and operations and maintenance
services for NMCI through its IT Services business. SecNet 11 is a
family of products that provides portable solutions for
establishing a Type-1 secure wireless communications
infrastructure. The family of products includes wireless bridges,
encryption cards and other technologies that provide military
personnel with secure access to real-time command and control
information. The SecNet 11 PCMCIA card facilitates the creation of
a secure wireless network that meets Department of Defense
stringent requirements for wireless transmission of both classified
