Harris Corporation Awarded $42 Million Follow-on Contract by Department of State for Consular Affairs Support

FALLS CHURCH, Va., Nov. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris
Corporation (NYSE:HRS) today announced that it has been awarded a
12-month, $42 million follow-on contract by the U.S. Department of
State, Bureau of Consular Affairs, to provide technical support
services to more than 230 U.S. embassies and consulates around the
world. More than 250 program personnel will continue to provide
complete systems and operational support related to the high-volume
business applications of the consulates and embassies, including
processing of approximately 5 million visa applications annually
and other services required to take care of American citizens
living or traveling abroad. "We are very pleased that the

critical mission systems of its embassies and consulates," said Dan

modernization." Under the contract, Harris will provide system
configuration management, system upgrades, help desk services, web
development and training. Employees of Harris and its teammates
travel around the world to provide system upgrades and training,
and help desk support to both domestic and international users of
the system. Harris also provides a central processing facility
where computer equipment is staged and configured by Harris
employees before it is shipped to embassies and consulates. Harris
support services also benefit border protection initiatives with
the addition of biometric technology to the visa application
