Industry-leading Service Assurance Platform Manages Nationwide
Network, Reducing Operations and Maintenance Costs MELBOURNE, Fla.,
Dec. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), a
leading global provider of network management systems, today
announced that the National Transmission Corporation (TransCo), the
Philippines' only wholesale electrical power transmission supplier,
has implemented the Harris NetBoss(R) network management platform
to provide centralized support of its nationwide telecommunications
network. NetBoss(R) provides fully integrated network and service
management, allowing TransCo to manage its entire communications
network using one centralized platform, thus significantly reducing
operating expenditures and increasing internal productivity.
TransCo also purchased the NetBoss(R) Build.IT module, which allows
them to quickly and easily develop their own interfaces as the
network grows. "We have had great success with the Harris domain
management system, so it was a natural step to evaluate NetBoss(R)
for our network-wide management application," said Jose Nuesca,
department head of SCADA and Telecoms for TransCo. "After a
comprehensive competitive bidding process, it was clear that the
ability of NetBoss(R) to manage any kind of device from any
manufacturer made it the best possible solution. Harris' ability to
provide a customized, turnkey solution, and the inherent
scalability of NetBoss(R) solidified our decision to extend our
relationship with Harris." TransCo is one of two government-owned
power suppliers for the Philippines, maintaining a large
telecommunications network to manage its nationwide power supply.
The NetBoss network management platform enables TransCo to
constantly monitor the status of the overall network and its
individual components, regardless of vendor or protocol, provide
root cause analysis and pinpoint the most significant faults in the
system with precise accuracy through a graphical display. This
level of visibility dramatically reduces the need for costly site
visits and time consuming equipment troubleshooting. Additionally,
Harris and TransCo developed a specific solution to address
TransCo's unique requirements and provided training to staff on the
use of NetBoss(R). "TransCo's NetBoss(R) deployment is an excellent
example of how Harris can enable large, geographically dispersed
organizations to manage every aspect of their network," said John
Koenig, vice president of Harris' NetBoss(R) business unit. "Our
extensive global experience with complex deployments, combined with
the flexibility of NetBoss(R), provides the ideal solution for
TransCo's expanding requirements. We are very pleased that they
have again selected Harris to support their nationwide
communications network." About NetBoss(R) NetBoss(R) is a turnkey,
end-to-end Service Assurance solution for broadband, wireless and
converged networks. The innovative approach to network and service
management employed by the NetBoss network management platform
provides the lowest total cost of ownership for network operations
and maintenance, and enables operators to improve quality of
service. NetBoss(R) functions as a scalable "manager-of-managers,"
enabling users to proactively manage and maintain their entire
network from legacy to next generation, from a single Web-enabled
view. Progressive companies worldwide rely on NetBoss(R) for the
automation and support they need to optimize their network
performance. About TransCo The National Transmission Corporation
