COLUMBUS, Ga., Jan. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Aflac, the
number one provider of supplemental insurance in the United States, is celebrating its 14th
consecutive year on FORTUNE magazine's prestigious list of
'100 Best Places to Work For'. The 2012 list was revealed
today by FORTUNE, making Aflac the only insurance company to appear
on the list for 14 straight years.
"Aflac is proud to be the only insurance company to appear on
FORTUNE'S list of '100 Best Companies to Work For' for 14
consecutive years," Aflac Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Dan Amos said. "Our long tenure on
this list affirms our belief that treating employees well is the
right thing to do and the cornerstone of Aflac's successful
business philosophy."
In noting the reasons that Aflac again made the list of 100 Best
Companies to Work For, FORTUNE pointed to Aflac's response
to the tsunami in Japan last March. Employees in the United States quickly raised more than
$100,000 to send for disaster relief,
aiding their colleagues in Japan.
In a separate related article extolling Aflac as one of 14
companies on the 2012 list to never have had a layoff,
FORTUNE noted, "Aflac keeps a strong commitment to employee
training, cross training, and finding jobs for staffers whose
positions have been eliminated."
To pick the 100 Best Companies to Work For, FORTUNE
partners with the Great Place to Work Institute to conduct the most
extensive employee survey in corporate America. More than 246,000
employees at hundreds of companies responded to a survey created by
the institute, a global research and consulting firm operating in
45 countries around the world. The full list and related stories
appear in the February issue of FORTUNE magazine. The list
is currently available online at FORTUNE magazine's
website.
