Previously Served as Software Company's Chief Architect, Recognized in the Successful Launch of webMethods Fabric FAIRFAX, Va., Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- webMethods, Inc. (NASDAQ:WEBM), a leading business integration and optimization software company, today announced the appointment of Marc Breissinger to the position of chief technology officer (CTO), effective immediately. In his new capacity, he will serve as a member of the company's executive management team. Breissinger had previously served as the company's chief architect, leading efforts supporting the development of the webMethods Fabric(TM) product suite. "While we considered a number of candidates for this position, none of them combined Marc's technical expertise, passion and vision for where webMethods Fabric can take our clients today and in the future," said David Mitchell, president and CEO, webMethods, Inc. "His influence has already been felt in the successful launch of Fabric 6.5 and he is playing an even larger role in the development of our next major platform release. In his new position, Marc will continue to support these activities, but he will be taking on an even larger role for helping to set our overall corporate and technology direction. He's also been charged with acting as a strong advocate on behalf of our customers." Since joining webMethods in 1999, Breissinger has held progressive responsibilities for managing webMethods' standards initiatives, defining product strategy, and establishing technical architecture. As the company's chief architect, Breissinger was charged with setting the technology vision for the company's products and ensuring that this vision is consistently rendered as industry-leading offerings. "webMethods has played a significant role in the emergence of Web services and service-oriented architecture," said Breissinger. "As such, it's a distinct honor to be named the company's CTO. By bringing together best-in- class technologies for managing business processes within a comprehensive service-oriented architecture, we've helped enterprises enhance IT efficiency while realizing greater predictability, visibility and performance within their core business operations. I look forward to continuing these efforts as we embrace new technologies and standards that further reinforce the significant role that IT can play in business performance." Prior to webMethods, Breissinger served with Andersen Consulting's Center for Strategic Technology in Palo Atlo, Calif. During his tenure, he co- founded and led a successful working group tasked with securing emerging Internet and integration technologies for use throughout the firm's operations. He holds a degree in computer science from Yale University.
