2019 M.A.D GIRLS
Mari 'Little Miss
Flint' Copeny, 11- Flint, MI
Women’s March Youth Ambassador and Activist,
Mari Copeny, otherwise known as “Little Miss Flint," wrote to
President Barack Obama at eight years old, to ask for a meeting and
help for her city after they went through a water crisis where
residents were exposed to contaminated poisonous water causing 12
deaths. President Obama ended up responding to Mari, visiting Flint
and granted the city $100 million to help repair the water system.
In the midst of all this Mari was giving water and donating school
supplies and backpacks to families and children in Flint. Her
passion, ambition and willingness to be an advocate for the
community makes her a young role model and trailblazer in the
making.
Winter BreeAnne, 18-
Riverside, CA
Voting rights activist, entrepreneur and
youth ambassador Winter BreeAnne has been named one of Riverside,
California’s Most Remarkable Teens. Beginning her advocacy at age
15 Winter launched her organization Black Is Lit, which started as
a Instagram page to fill the void in black representation and then
quickly grew into a passion project. She began to travel across the
nation to different elementary schools promoting education and the
importance of politics and voting. In addition to becoming the
youngest addition to Crooked Media, where she will be providing her
generation with a voice in the political climate that they aren't
aware of, she will also be launching a non-profit organization Just
Active early 2020. And to top things off she released a campaign
with Amplifier Art called “We Are the Future” and helped create a
detailed election plan for 20,000 schools across the nation to help
initiate the conversations about voting.
Chanice Lee, 17-
Fort Lauderdale, FL
Teen activist, author, speaker and blogger
Chanice Lee, has a mission to positively impact the community on a
large scale. She created “The Melanin Diary” an online platform
promoting social awareness amongst black teens. Chanice was also
selected as one of the twenty-one young women to serve as a Teen
Advisor for a campaign of the United Nations Foundation called
‘Girl Up’, a global movement for gender equality. Chanice has
participated in several speaking engagements including 2017 Florida
March For Black Women, Women’s March Miami “Power To The Polls”
rally, and the 2018 Girl Up leadership Summit. She is also an
author of “Young Revolutionary: A Teens Guide To Activism” where
she gives teens the tools and confidence to be a successful
