Synplicity, Inc. (Nasdaq:SYNP), a leading supplier of software for the design and verification of semiconductors, today announced its open IP encryption methodology has received a DesignVision Award in the system-level design tools category, which recognizes technologies, applications, products and services judged to be the most unique and beneficial to the industry. Synplicitys free, non-proprietary IP encryption flow was recognized during an award ceremony held at the Santa Clara Convention Center, during DesignCon on January 30, 2007. This award marks the second time Synplicity has received a DesignVision Award and the third time Synplicity has been a DesignVision Award finalist. Started in 2005, the International Engineering Consortiums (IEC) DesignVision Award recognizes companies for their innovative products, services and technologies that have added a new dimension to the electronic design industry. Entrants for this award were judged based on innovation, uniqueness, market impact, customer benefits and value to society. IEC executive vice president Roger Plummer stated, Our DesignVision Awards honor those catalyzing positive change in high-technology, business, and academia, completely in line with the IECs mission. Were pleased to give tribute to the innovators who have helped advance progress in electronic design. Synplicitys IP encryption methodology supports tool interoperability and offers EDA vendors, IP providers and end-users a means to address the challenges designers face when using protected IP in their design flows. The methodology utilizes openly available, well-tested and government-approved encryption methods combined with an encryption embedding mechanism. In October 2006, Synplicity donated its open IP encryption methodology to the VSI Alliance (VSIA), providing the VSIA a license to use and modify Synplicitys IP encryption specification for the purposes of creating an industry IP encryption standard. We believe receiving this award validates our opinion that the semiconductor market requires a standard method for encrypting and decrypting IP in designs and we are committed to working with industry leaders to develop an industry-wide IP encryption standard. VSIA is pleased that the IEC has recognized Synplicitys open IP encryption methodology with a DesignVision Award, said Kathy Werner, president of the VSIA. We believe that this methodology, once standardized, will benefit designers, IP vendors and EDA vendors alike, by facilitating the use of protected IP throughout the design flow. About Synplicity Synplicity Inc.
