Senior Pass demand
NIC Inc.’s (Nasdaq: EGOV) digital marketplace, YourPassNow, was
honored with a Beacon Award during the annual Partners Outdoors
conference last week in Washington, DC. Presented to federal
employees and partners for outstanding service to the recreation
community, YourPassNow was recognized with a Beacon Award for its
role in partnering with the National Park Service (NPS) to fulfill
a surge in senior pass demand.
In 2017, the NPS was faced with a rapid increase in the number
of requests for the America the Beautiful – the National Parks and
Federal Recreational Lands Senior Pass. To help fulfill these
requests, the NPS partnered with NIC to offer senior passes through
YourPassNow, a digital marketplace that makes it easy and
convenient for visitors to purchase passes and permits to access
public lands online. As a result, in just 36 days, more than 635k
passes were purchased, helping the NPS reduce their backlog and
ensure seniors received their passes in a timely fashion.
“It was absolutely NIC’s pleasure to help the National Park
Service fulfill the rapid demand for senior passes last year,” said
Angela Fultz Nordstrom, NIC Vice President. “By offering digital
access to America’s public lands, NIC is delivering on our
commitment to make citizen interactions with government more
efficient and convenient.”
YourPassNow provides an alternative to the traditional
paper-based, in-person purchase method while simultaneously
providing public lands with a tool to help manage the visitor
experience. Using a personal device, visitors can purchase passes
and permits from yourpassnow.com. Once purchased, passes and
permits can be downloaded or stored to a wallet for immediate and
future use. Passes and permits are also emailed for those that want
to print their pass or permit.
The following public lands currently provide electronic passes
and permits through YourPassNow: Acadia, Everglades, Theodore
Roosevelt, Sequoia and Kings Canyon, Yellowstone, and Yosemite
National Parks; Castillo de San Marcos and Colorado National
Monuments; Whiskeytown National Recreation Area; Columbia River
Gorge National Scenic Area; Wayne National Forest; and the Bureau
of Land Management’s Lake Havasu Field Office.
