ARRIS DOCSIS(R) 2.0-Certified Touchstone(TM) Telephony Modem 402P Declared Generally Available Newest E-MTA with Lithium Ion Back-Up Battery in Use by World's Five Largest MSOs SUWANEE, Ga., April 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ARRIS today announced that its DOCSIS 2.0 and PacketCable 1.0-certified Touchstone Telephony Modem 402 (TM 402P) is now generally available and being purchased by the world's top 5 MSOs, as well as numerous smaller MSOs around the world. The Touchstone TM 402P E-MTA provides high-speed data access and 2 lines of Voice over IP (VoIP) telephony along with the longest battery back-up time of any E-MTA currently available. The Touchstone TM402P is the only E-MTA commercially available today to integrate Lithium-Ion battery back-up capability into the base unit which enables up to 20 hours of standby time in the event of a power outage. Lithium-Ion batteries are lighter-weight, easier to replace, have a longer service life than traditional sealed lead acid batteries and do not pose any Hazardous Materials issues for handling and disposal. ARRIS designed the new battery cartridge in cooperation with North American cable operators who are now purchasing the product for deploying VoIP services to their subscribers.
