Privacy Mode enables U.S. cable operators to easily encrypt their VoD programming, ensuring this content can only be viewed by authorized subscribers. The rising penetration of digital set top boxes has increased the importance of ensuring that VoD content is appropriately protected and that accidental viewing of inappropriate content does not occur. ARRIS Privacy Mode delivers an economic and scalable content security mechanism which will support continued VoD revenue growth by cable Multiple System Operators (MSOs) and increase the addressable market of the ARRIS D5 UEQ. The ARRIS D5 Universal Edge QAM is a highly dense and flexible multi- service platform supporting Digital Broadcast, VoD and multi protocol Switched Digital Video (SDV). It is also fully hardware compatible with DOCSIS 3.0 and M-CMTS standards today and will be fully compliant with a simple software upgrade available later in 2008.
