SPOKANE, Wash., March 25, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- U-Haul® will
soon be presenting a new retail and self-storage facility in
Spokane thanks to the recent
acquisition of the former Kmart® store at 4110 E. Sprague Ave.
U-Haul Moving & Storage of East Town is currently
operating out of a temporary showroom and offering truck and
trailer sharing, towing equipment, U-Box® portable storage
containers and moving supplies. U-Haul acquired the
115,992-square-foot building on Jan.
18.
"This location is perfect for U-Haul because eastern
Spokane has been underserved when
it comes to state-of-the-art moving and self-storage facilities,"
said Manny Mendez, U-Haul Company of
Inland Northwest president. "We're pleased to bring our quality
products and services to the South Hill neighborhood."
Contact U-Haul Moving & Storage of East Town at (509)

operation are 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Monday-Saturday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Sunday. Reserve equipment at uhaul.com or contact
Reservations at 1-800-GO-UHAUL.
Adaptive reuse of the property will render about 700 indoor
self-storage units, giving customers access to climate-controlled
rooms with high-tech security features at affordable price points.
Propane and professional hitch installation will also be offered on
the 10.4-acre lot in the near future.
Acquisition of the former Kmart store was driven by U-Haul
Corporate Sustainability initiatives: U-Haul supports infill
developments to help local communities lower their carbon
footprint. Our adaptive reuse of existing buildings reduces the
amount of energy and resources required for new-building materials
and helps cities reduce their unwanted inventory of unused
buildings.
"Reusing big-box stores is important because many times they
remain dark for years and become blight on the community," Mendez
said. "Most of our U-Haul-owned and -operated stores are a product
of adaptive reuse. We're excited to bring our ecofriendly design to
Spokane."
Mendez expects to maintain a staff of 15 or more Team Members
when the store is completed. U-Haul will look to hire locally to
promote job growth within the Spokane community.
