Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE will supply the U.S. government 500
million doses of their Covid-19 vaccine at not-for-profit price for
donation to poor countries.
The pharmaceutical companies said Thursday that the U.S.
government will buy 200 million doses this year, while the
remaining 300 million doses will be purchased next year.
The doses will go to 92 low- and lower middle-income
countries.
These doses fall under the companies' previously announced
pledge to provide two billion vaccine doses to low- and
middle-income countries.
The first doses will be delivered in August, and the U.S.
government has an option to buy additional doses next year.
