German economic expectations improved in November, the ZEW
economic research institute said Tuesday.
Economic expectations improved in November to minus 2.1 points,
from minus 22.8 points in October. The outcome was better than
economists' consensus forecast of minus 14.8 points in The Wall
Street Journal's survey.
The ZEW's assessment of the current situation is Germany
improved slightly, up to minus 24.7 points in November from minus
25.3 points in October, the institute said. The reading is,
however, worse than economists' forecast of a rise to minus 22.0
points.
"There is growing hope that the international economic policy
environment will improve in the near future, which explains the
sharp rise in the ZEW Indicator of Economic Sentiment in November,"
said ZEW President Achim Wambach.
