Volkswagen AG's (VOW.XE) supervisory board named Stefan Sommer to its management board as head of procurement, the company said late Monday.

Mr. Sommer, who was previously the chief executive of automotive parts supplier ZF Friedrichshafen AG, will take his new post on Jan. 1, Volkswagen said.

He succeeds Javier Garcia Sanz, who left the company voluntarily in April.
